Discusses a recent law case "BTE Ltd v Merseyside and Cheshire Rent Assessment Committee and Mrs K Jones" which confirmed that where there is no scarcity of comparable properties available to let, the `fair rent` under a regulated tenancy should be at the same level as the rent achieved for the new assured tenancies.
