Differential GPS during hydrographic surveys in 1990 - 1991 - Land & Minerals Surveying 9(3) March 1991, 5-7(3) .

With the resumption of GPS satellite launches it was believed that at last, in 1990, the GPS would offer the RN Hydrographic Service a viable alternative to traditional land navigation systems. In late 1989 a tender exercise was conducted and a contract was let to Racal Marine Systems for the provision of three ship equipments and a Differential Service. This article describes the system and the results of an accuracy assessment carried out in March 1990.
