According to Serplan `s report "A new strategy for the south east" (available from 50-64 Broadway, London SW10DB £10), traffic congestion in the south east could be eased by improving public transport and restraining the use of private cars . Investment in bus services and railways, park and ride schemes, improved conditions for cyclists, restrictions on large developments in the green belt and encouraging economic growth in inner-London and Thames corridor areas are the main recommendations put forward.
