Sauter Automation Ltd v H.C. Goodman (Mechanical Services) Ltd ChD 9 May 1986, was a dispute over boiler replacement work. In a retention of title clause under which risk in the goods would pass to Goodman on delivery, legal ownership remained with Sauter until payment was made in full. Sauter delivered, but did not receive payment; Goodman went into liquidation. Ownership of the equipment became the question before the High Court.
