A Private members bill , the Estate Agents (Property Misdescriptions) Bill has passed its second reading unopposed. If it becomes law, estate agents giving misleading information on property would be liable to fines of up to £2000. The sale of property would be brought into line with the sale of goods under the Trades Description Act 1968 . RICS amendments to include commercial propoerty have been accepted by government.
