Re-using redundant premises
Syms, P.
Re-using redundant premises - 1986 - Estates Gazette 280 (6313) 6 December 1986,1210 (1) .
Examines the results of a study, undertaken in Manchester in the first half of 1985,into the demand for manufacturing and warehouse premises in an older industrial conurbation. It attempts to draw conclusions upon which future policy decisions may be based. Two schools of thought are examined to solve the oversupply of vacant industrial accommodation. The first favours demolition with resulting sites being developed for alternative uses , not necessarily industrial. The second argument says that demolition causes depressed areas to be denied accommodation to cater for an upturn in the economy and thus the older industrial areas would not receive new replacement industries.(Taken from Journal Abstract.)
