Murphy v Brentwood DC HL 26 July 1990. The HL allowed an appeal by the council that they were not liable for the cost of remedial work to a house, to correct defects due to a concrete raft not well designed but approved by the council on the advice of consulting engineers . Referred to Anns v Merton LBC 1978 AC 728 but departed from this decision.
