The mysterious case of the damp walls

Bonshor, R.

The mysterious case of the damp walls - 1994 - CSM (Chartered Surveyor Monthly) 4(1) October 1994, 20-21(2) .

Follows a defects case referred to the BRE Advisory Service where dampness in the walls could not be explained by rising damp or leakage from plumbing. Identifies evaporation from the screed as the source of damage and suggests the removal of skirtings and that plaster which is in contact with the screed, followed by the addition of bitumen to the resulting gap and then redecoration.
