Subcontractor escapes liability for fire damage - 1989 - Independent 6/1/89 p12 .

In Norwich City Council v Harvey and Another , CA 21 December 1988, a subcontractor was held not liable for damage caused by fire as the employer had entered into a contract with the main contractors whereby the employer would be responsible for any loss or damage to the premises. The damage was caused by negligent use of a blowtorch by the subcontractor.
