In Durman and Others v Bell , CA 1 February 1988, the judge upheld an earlier decision and dismissed an appeal by landlords for possession of a house on a farm, occupied by a former agricultural worker. The worker had a protected occupancy under the Rent (Agriculture) Act 1976 and continued to occupy the house after his agricultural employment had ceased. He paid rent but carried on a business as a builder from the house.
