Nationwide Building Society`s fall in profits by 29% are blamed on the financial provisions set aside to cover bad debts. Nationwide calls on Government to take urgent steps to improve the state of the housing market. Suggestions include continuing the moratorium on stamp duty after August deadline and the introduction of mortgage benefit similar to housing benefit available to tenants.
