Looks critically at the idea of placing a value on the environment and whether this is a good thing in the long term. Environmental economics as the approach is called, calls for the value of environmental `goods` to be defined. Theses are not `goods` in the conventional sense of the word, since it is hard to `consume` a beautiful view as one would a natural resource . But, it is hoped by giving them a value that they may be preserved.
