Reviews recent case law on rent review clauses in leases which provide conveyancers with greater guidance on drafting leases and surveyors with information on valuation . The general theme is that problems of construction in these clauses should be resolved by reference to the underlying commercial purpose of the clause, which is to reflect changes in rental values .
