The RIBA is split over a safety policy that may expose architects to criminal charges. A memorandum to RIBA branch chairmen explaining the implications of the CONDAM health and safety legislation encourages architects to become planning supervisors, a role created by the legislation, and assume responsibility for drawing up a health and safety plan for each building.
