In Trustees of Henry Smith`s Charity v Kyriakou , CA 4 May 1989, it was held that due service under Law of Property Act 1925 s196 or under Landlord and Tenant Act 1927 s23 on an individual `at his last-known place of abode` would be effected if the notice was left at the place, nearest to that in which he was last known to have lived, to which a member of the public or a postman could go.
