In R v Nottingham City Council , ex parte Nottinghamshire County Council ; R v Mansfield District Council , ex parte Same CA 26 May 1988 it was held that where a rating authority made a resolution under the General Rate Act 1967 s55 directing that owners of certain classes of property in their area should be rated instead of the occupiers, the authority could lawfully make an allowance to itself as owner of such property.
