With a stagnant residential property market, other methods of moving without actually selling are being considered including the house exchange scheme, where two buyers will agree to exchange their houses at an agreed price with any difference in value being made up by a cash payment. This article looks at the merits of the scheme, its advantages, limitations and likelihood of continuation if the property market picks up.
