In "French v Commercial Union Assurance Co plc and another", CA 21 December 1992, it was held that a substantial reduction in turnover by the tenant of shop premises in a shopping centre caused by a supermarket moving out of neighbouring premises was a factor to be taken into account in determining an interim rent under Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 s24A.
