In the light of concern expressed by Scottish landowners and farmers over the designation of SSSIs , this article describes the procedure of an SSSI notification, the calculation of compensation through management agreements and concludes with a look at the possibility of awarding positive management agreements for those wishing to enhance the environment and amenity of their land.
