Reviews a recent CIRIA publications " Waterfront walls : management, maintenance and rehabilitation" which has shown that the ports, harbour, sea defences and canals of the UK contain numerous old but serviceable walls with a value of over £20bn. This asset however needs a great deal of maintenance and repair .
