The latest maintenance expenditure report by the Society of Chief Architects of Local Authorities claims that spending on the repair and maintenance of schools by local authorities is less than half of that required to keep them in a satisfactory condition. An investigation into the collapse of a school roof during the January storm s which killed a pupil has revealed evidence of poor workmanship and lack of adequate supervision.
