Major changes in the tenancy system for public houses have been ushered in with the announcement by Grand Metropolitan plc and Foster`s Brewing Group Ltd of a merger of their property interests into a new jointly owned company named Inntrepreneur Estates Ltd . 8,450 Courage tied houses will be owned by IEL and the estate managed by Grand Met. Individual pubs henceforth will be available to tenants on a 20-year lease which represents a major change of practice.
