Day trips within Great Britain, of up to 3 hours travelling time to destinations of over 20 miles from home, now account for 20% of all tourism expenditure . This survey is the first of its kind and presents both the results and an account of the compilation methods. Graphs and tables summarise statistics on cash spent and on what, reasons for visits, distances travelled and for what purpose, seasonal variations, types of trippers and so on.
