In the wake of the abolition of domestic rateable values in 1990, this article offers a clarification of tenancy definitions in the Local Goevernment and Housing Act 1989 , Housing Act 1988 , Leasehold Reform Act 1967 and the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 . Amendments to the earlier legislation are contained in the Rating (Housing) Regulations 1991 and their consequences on the foregoing Acts are explained.
