Traces the origins of the Land Registry , reviewing the role played by the Ordnance Survey . Sets out the general boundaries rule (r.278 of the Land Registration Rules 1925 ), the main purpose of which is to avoid boundary disputes. Land Registration Practice Leaflet No 14, Surveying Housing Development for Registration Purposes, has been introduced to be used in conjunction with revised Practice Leaflet No 7, Development of Registered Building Estates. This contains procedures for preparation of layout plans of registered building estates , while No 14 provides guidance to surveyors .
