Sets out the results of a study on the effects of diversification strategy on UK construction companies` financial performance. The study compares two different economic periods ie stable (1986-1989) and recession (1990-1992). Concludes that diversification is a valid cause of a firm`s growth during stable economic conditions but during a slump this strategy needs to be adjusted or even reversed. (from journal abstract)
