Bonus payment - 1990 - Chartered Surveyor Weekly vol 30 no 2 11/1/90 p65-66 .

In Williams v Roffey Bros and Nicholls (contractors) Ltd , CA 23 November 1989, where the defendants main contract contained a penalty clause and they became concerned when it appeared that the plaintiff, in financial difficulties would not complete the work on time, it was held that there are situations where ensuring that the terms of an existing contract are honoured can amount to a real practical benefit and can therefore be good consideration.
