New fire rules will damage residential lettings market

The RICS say that the "Fire and Furnishing Regulations" from the DTI will make letting residential property harder. The regulations place a new responsibilty on letting agents to check that all furniture in the property conform with stringent fire regulations. If an agent fails to comply it could lead to 6 months in prison and /or a £5,000 fine.
