Land restoration after minerals extraction: the role of minerals planning authorities - 1986 - Town Planning Review 57(4) 1986, 382-403(22) .

The question of whether land would be well restored after mineral extraction if there was no planning control cannot be tested, since control has been in operation in Great Britain since 1932. This paper, therefore, examines the different approaches taken to control extraction by different mineral planning authorities. Using field studies of seventeen sites in five different counties, the author comes to some useful conclusions about how the mineral planning authority can influence the quality of land restoration following mineral extraction.
