Kicking off an identity crisis? - 1991 - Law Society`s Gazette 89(1) 8 january 1991, 20-22(2) .

Discusses "Cambridge Water Co Ltd v Eastern Counties Leather" (1991), in which the plaintiffs claimed that ECL had contaminated the aquifer. The case raises questions of allocating blame for historic pollution, maintaining the "polluter pays" principle and the application of "Rylands v Fletcher" (1868), on which the present case failed in being unable to prove that the contaminating substance was for non-natural use.
