This paper uses an explicit risk model to examine investment performance in the privately rented housing sector. By using such rational analysis, it is possible to identify target returns for these investments. An examination is also made of the reasons for disinvestment and the factors which need to be addressed in order to sustain a viable sector in the future. (Journal abstract)
