Colbart v Kumar - the final certificate

Chappell, D.

Colbart v Kumar - the final certificate - 1992 - Architects` Journal 195(15) 15 April 1992, 54-55(2) .

A recent case favouring a conclusive interpretation of the final certificate issued under the JCT IFC 84 could extend the liability of architects. The final certificate as conclusive allows the contractor to avoid liability for defects after its issue, leaving the employer to sue the architect for breach of duty in failing to identify the defects.
