Arbitrators must give reasons - 1987 - Independent 26/11/87 p30 .

In Kansa General Insurance Co Ltd v Bishopgate Insurance Plc QBD 12 November 1987 it was held that where it was alleged that arbitrators, in giving reasons for their award, had failed to deal adequately or at all with one party`s submissions of law, the court was entitled to refer to those submissions when considering an application under s 1(5) Arbitration Act 1979 for an order requiring the arbitrators to state further reasons for that award.
