It was held, in Curran and Another v Northern Ireland Co-Ownership Housing Association Ltd and Others HL 8 April 1987 that a local authority who paid an improvement grant for building an extension to a house, did not owe a duty of care to subsequent owners to see that the extension had been properly constructed.
