London Underground is to revive plans to double the length of the East London line by extending it at surface level northwards to Highbury and Islington and southwards to East Dulwich. At least £600m worth of work for contractors is being held up by the failure of the Government and the administrators of Canary Wharf to agree on the private sector contribution to the Jubilee Line.
