The SoS for the Environment has given further indications of policy goals for the capital in a televised speech, arguing for development of the East Thames Corridor, defending London`s status as a world city, rejecting calls for a GLC replacement, and proposing a change of use for Somerset House, currently occupied by HM Inland Revenue.
