Reviews recent case law concerned with defective buildings involving proceedings by house purchasers against surveyors and valuers for negligent surveys, claims by tenants for breach of the landlord`s repairing covenant and actions against builders or developers for breach of duty in execution of building works. Consideration is also given to the circumstances in which such awards are not made as well as the approach of the appellate courts to appeals from awards of this nature. Concludes with a list of recent awards.
