Measures announced by the Government to improve the quality of estate agents ` services have been criticised by the relevant professional bodies as being "too weak". The Minister of Consumer Affairs has asked the Office of Fair Trading to draw up a voluntary code of practice , backed by existing legislation, which will mean that estate agents can be banned from practising if they commit "undesirable practices".
