In response to the Energy Select Committee report on renewable energy, the Government accepted arguments that renewable energy sufficiently fostered could stem the increasing use of fossil fuels but would only employ renewable energy technologies where they were seen to be economic. A planning policy guidance note on renewable energy is to be issued.
