In "Liverpool CC v Attorney-general" ChD 15 April 1992, it was held that a gift of land to a local authority for use as a `recreation ground and for no other purpose` did not create a charitable trust requiring the authority to maintain the land for recreational purposes in perpetuity in the absence of any of the formalities applicable to the transfer of land to be held on charitable trust.
