"Prudential Assurance Co Ltd v London Residuary Baody and others" HL 16 July 1992. A grant for an uncertain term did not create a lease. The agreement to allow possession until the land was required by the council for widening a road was a yearly tenancy and as such could be terminated by six months notice on either sides. The court accepted that this was a `bizarre outcome` and hoped the Law Commission would address the subject.
