"Gardner and another v Marsh and Parsons (a firm) and another" CA 13 November 1996. Purchasers of a maisonette with a serious structural defect which their surveyor had negligently failed to spot were entitled to damages against the surveyor based on the difference between the value of the property without the defects and its value with the defects at the date of purchase.
