In J T Developments Ltd v Quinn and another CA 6 December 1990 it was held that the tenants were entitled to a new tenancy by virtue of proprietary estoppel . In a telephone conversation the landlords` agent had stated that a new tenancy would be granted on the same terms as a neigbouring tenant and that statement was an assurance capable of providing the basis for estoppel.
