Structural and material failures in agricultural buildings

Structural and material failures in agricultural buildings - 1987 - Farm Buildings and Engineering 4(1) Spring-Summer 1987, 24-25(2) .

Failure of buildings can provide valuable evidence on problems requiring investigation or on avoiding action. In 1984 the ADAS Farm Buildings Group started a nationwide scheme to record such failures, using a standardised failure report form. Summaries of reported failures in 1984 and 1985, in which information is presented in aggregated form, have been issued. The majority of failures reported concern silage clamps due to design , construction failures and to overloading. As the number of reported cases increases, it should be possible to comment more fully on other types of building. Photos.
