Consultants First Europe in research for Roof Briefing report that house sales were more affected by unemployment and the recession than official statistics show; an upturn in the market will have little effect in London and the South East. The House Builders Federation reports that sales of new houses in January 1994 increased by 4.5% compared with January 1993. The Corporate Estate Agents reports a dramatic fall in the number of homes coming onto the market.
