"Stirling Plant (Hire and Sales) Ltd v Central Regional Council", Court of Session 15 December 1994 held, a local authority seeking to acquire land compulsorily in order to build a car park was justified in rejecting an offer from owners of a central part of the site to grant it a long lease, because of the uncertainties that could have arisen on expiry of the lease.
