A study by the Severn Tidal Power Group funded by the Department of Energy and a consortium of civil engineering companies, claims that the proposed 10 mile barrage across the Severn Estuary could produce more than 6% of Britain`s electricity and substantially cut the UK`s contribution to the greenhouse effect .
