In R v Hackney London Borough Council ex parte S G Warburg Group Management Ltd , CA 25 March 1988, it was held that on its true construction the General Rate Act 1967 allowed rating authorities to levy rates on the basis of new or revised rateable values proposed by the valuation officer, before any resulting alteration has been made to the valuation list .
