Intense lobbying by Olympia and York is believed to be behind a Government move to extend tax breaks on enterprise zone investments beyond the life of the zones. New rules announced by the Inland Revenue mean that investors will continue to qualify for tax relief up to 10 years after the zone expires if construction contracts for the buildings were let before the zone expired.
