In Smith and Others v Littlewoods Organisation Ltd ; Maloco v Littlewoods Organisation Ltd HL 5 February 1987 it was held that the owners of a disused cinema were not liable for damage to neighbouring properties caused by a fire started by vandals where, on the facts, the owners had no knowledge of any fire risk arising from the state of the cinema.
